PHIMA Premiere Membership Program

The PHIMA Premiere Membership Program is a way to acknowledge and contribute to your component state organization beyond the general membership granted as part of your AHIMA annual dues.  In addition to the benefits of being a voting member of PHIMA, Premiere Members receive these wonderful benefits for only $20/year!

  • Education sessions at a discount rate including the Annual Meeting

  • A “Perk Pack” at the Annual Meeting

  • An electronic newsletter (The Keystoner) which comes directly to your inbox with each and every publication

  • A dynamic website that details educational opportunities, job bank, news, important links, and too many more up and coming enhancements to mention!

  • Immediate access to job openings throughout the state and country, even before the For the Record or Advance Magazine reaches your mailbox.

  • Legislative updates concerning the HIM field

  • A Central Office with a salaried Executive Director who is personally available to you for information and answers to your questions

  • Networking contacts with other PA HIM professionals via a membership listing including telephone numbers and e-mail addresses

Yes, PHIMA does receive part of the dues you pay AHIMA each year.  However, like many other states, PHIMA needs the additional funds to provide all the services you have come to expect.  We promise you the $20 dues assessment will be well worth the cost for your professional and personal growth.

Membership in our parent organization, the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), is a prerequisite for membership categories listed below.

Membership Categories

PHIMA shall be composed of three basic classes of membership. The following membership categories are available:

Active - Individuals interested in the AHIMA purpose and willing to abide by the Code of Ethics.  Active members in good standing shall be entitled to membership privileges including the right to vote as specified below, to hold office and to serve as delegates to AHIMA.

Honorary - Any person who made a significant contribution to health information management science or rendered distinguished service in the health information management profession or its related fields may be awarded honorary membership in the PHIMA by the Board of Directors.  These members shall be exempt from dues.  An honorary member may hold no other class of membership in PHIMA.  Honorary members shall also be eligible for a national appointment by AHIMA.  Honorary members who were once active members shall retain their active membership rights.

Student - Any student formally enrolled in an AHIMA accredited or approved program, including those pending accreditation/approval is eligible for student membership.  A student may retain this class of membership until the first qualifying examination for which he or she is eligible, after which time he or she shall be transferred to active membership.  Student members shall have all rights and privileges of membership, including that of serving on committees and subcommittees in designated student positions with voice but no vote.  They shall not be entitled to other voting privileges, hold office, or serve as delegates.
