Directed/Clinical Practices I
The experiences include learning the basics of: They are
expected to rotate through the department in different technical
areas (such as filing, assembly, analysis, record storage &
retrieval, inpatient & outpatient coding, ROI), working
alongside HIM employees. For many students, this will be their
first exposure to the hospital HIM setting. Also specialty
registries, and exposure to the admissions, billing, and
ambulatory care departments. (approximately 140 hrs- one or two
days a week)
Directed/Clinical Practices II
Includes focused Management exposure, as well as specific
projects. Approximately 240 hours.
Specialty Facilities Clinical Practices The
specialty facilities include LTC, Ambulatory Care, Rehab,
Physician Billing Offices, Registries, Surgical Centers, etc.
We look to provide the student with a variety of experiences.
At each facility the student is exposed to medical record
activities, quality improvement activities, and regulatory
requirements.
Mock Interviews
Perform a mock interview with a student/new graduate.
