Each year the Pennsylvania Health Information Management Association (PHIMA) awards several education scholarships to students who demonstrate academic achievement and commitment to the field of health information management in Pennsylvania.  PHIMA promotes education and recruitment of new students as critical success factors for the HIM profession.    As a recipient of the scholarship, you will have the opportunity to be recognized at the PHIMA Annual Meeting held in May during a luncheon for your accomplishments along with receiving a $500 scholarship.

Scholarship applicants must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

1. Currently enrolled in an accredited HIM program, HIT program, AHIMA Independent Study Program (PA Residents Only), or graduate program in a field related to Health Information Management
   

2. Current member of AHIMA and designated Pennsylvania as your Component State Association (CSA).
   

3. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3

Several documents need to be completed when nominating a candidate.  These documents include;

1. Online application

2. Two references/recommendations

3. Copy of a recent transcript of credits from an accredited HIM, HIT, or graduate program

The application, reference and transcript for the 2011-2012 year must be postmarked no later than February 13, 2012.
