About the Publication

This publication is an extensive rewrite of the 1988 Guidelines for Release of Information, that was a joint effort between PHIMA and the then Hospital Association of Pennsylvania. It represents the combined efforts of 24 PHIMA members who volunteered their time and expertise over a period of 2 years to bring this comprehensive manual to fruition. With the assistance of an attorney, every chapter was reviewed and updated to comply with current Pennsylvania statutes, regulations and federal regulations including Conditions of Participation and HIPAA Privacy requirements. This current version includes links to the regulations as well as sample documents, forms, and tables.
