In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing the operations of the medical record coding/abstracting staff to ensure the timely and accurate coding of all pertinent diagnoses and procedures, that the DRG (diagnosis-related group) assignments are based on accurate and properly sequenced diagnoses and procedures, and ensures that abstracted data elements from the medical records are entered into the computer system database in a timely, accurate and statistically meaningful way.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing or a closely related field.
- Three to five years of previous coding experience.
- Registration required as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or licensure required as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
- Superior leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.
