CPHIMA Farewell Presidential Message

It has been an honor to serve as your CPHIMA President. We have certainly faced our fair share of obstacles and challenges this year, but I’m hopeful we are all coming out more resilient than ever. HIM professionals have often been skilled in the face of change, and I applaud everyone for their achievements over these past few months.

I also want to take a moment to highlight some of the accomplishments of the CPHIMA Executive Committee and Board, including:

  • Updating the Strategic Plan
  • Providing two in-person education sessions
  • Evolving the June Education Session into an extended education webinar
  • Notifying our Federal legislators regarding health care issues and voting
  • Identifying opportunities to expand CPHIMA membership
  • Recruiting vendors/sponsors for education sessions
  • Recruiting members to accept nominations to elected and appointed offices
  • Identifying ways to be fiscally responsible, including changing the December education session venue and evaluating continued webinar and virtual opportunities for future sessions

Like many of you, I have been inspired by numerous stories of courage and compassion recently in health care, and I am grateful and proud to work in such a profession. I would like to leave you with some musings that I find particularly encouraging:
