2023 PHIMA Conference Recap
It was incredible to come together for PHIMA’s 85th Annual Conference in historic Gettysburg, PA! With nearly 200 registrants, 18 exhibitors and insightful speakers, it was a wonderful opportunity to continue our education, network and celebrate health information professionals! PHIMA sincerely appreciates the participation, support, and enthusiasm from all that attended, including registrants, exhibitors and speakers!
Our conference kicked off with two phenomenal keynote speakers, Dr. Nya El-Amin and Faisal Khan, who shared their expertise about thriving, mental agility, and being resilient in the workplace. We were honored to have two speakers from AHIMA – Thea Campbell, who spoke about driving member value and impact and strengthening emotional intelligence, and Andrew Tomlinson who provided a regulatory update from Washington and how AHIMA is advocating on behalf of members.
Tracks and educational sessions included topics such as artificial intelligence in healthcare, health information exchanges, value-based care, vendor security incidents, the 21st Century Cures Act, coding updates, query writing essentials, and much more!
The President’s Reception was a blast as teams assembled for some friendly competition in a family feud-style game. Others enjoyed appetizers, networked, and jumped into the photobooth for a printed keepsake.
We recognized 2 deserving student scholarship recipients, Heather Litzinger – Hutchinson Community College, and Jeanne Day – University of Maryland Global Campus. We also recognized the 2023 PHIMA Distinguished Member, Kim Felix, RHIA, CCS for her 30+ years of outstanding accomplishments in the industry.
Through generous contributions from our regional associations, vendors, and individual members, our gift basket raffle and donations to The 38’ Society raised $1869.00 towards our student scholarship fund.
The ongoing success of PHIMA rests mainly on our volunteers. We’d love for you to join us! For more information or to get involved, please email us at contactus@phima.org.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us in Gettysburg as we “Focus Forward”. We hope to see you again soon.
