LVHIMA, a local chapter of PHIMA, would like to offer students/LVHIMA members reimbursement for taking and passing ANY AHIMA certification examination to further their career in the Health Information Management (HIM) field. You MUST be a member of LVHIMA to apply.

Membership applications are available on the PHIMA Regions page or by contacting Mary Beth McFadden as noted on the application and below. Dues are $20 for July 1 to June 30th each year.

This is the first year we are trying this and hope it will be of assistance to our students and employee members who may be thinking of taking a Certification exam. This year we will offer it to the first 20 applicants who apply between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022. Each year we will reevaluate the program based on our financial situation and continue to offer it as long as we can and there is interest. The link to the application is below.

Process

1. Apply through AHIMA to take the examination of your choice, pay for it and set it up.
2. Once you receive a passing score for your exam, please complete the application.

For any issues, contact Mary Beth McFadden and a link to the application form will be sent or a form can be mailed/emailed to you. Complete the form and SUBMIT.

LVHIMA will then reimburse $125.00 each to the first 20 applicants during the fiscal year, July 1st to June 30th. You will be contacted (via email unless otherwise instructed) either way so you know if reimbursement is forthcoming.

We hope the possibility of some reimbursement, will support & encourage you to take a Credential Exam and further your HIM career.
