Urgent Advocacy Request from PHIMA

URGENT — We Still Need Your Help

PA House Bill 2198 is an act amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. The proposed language in this bill will decrease fees for third-party medical record requests in this proposed measure will increase the costs to health care providers.

The proposal would lower existing fees that providers can charge third-party requesters, usually plaintiff lawyers and legal counsel for insurance companies, for personal medical records. These changes only impact charges to third-party requesters and do not apply to the patient or the patient’s provider requesting records for treatment purposes.
